Code of conduct
CODE OF CONDUCT FOR REAL DEALS MEDIA EVENTS
Real Deals Media (the Organiser) is committed to creating an inclusive, positive, and enjoyable environment for all attendees and staff. We have a zero-tolerance policy towards any form of harassment. Our goal is for everyone to feel welcome, respected, and safe, with the freedom to engage in discussions without fear of harm, humiliation, bullying, or intimidation.
We expect all attendees, sponsors, speakers, and staff to act professionally, courteously, and respectfully both in-person at the event and online, before, during, and after the event.
Harassment
Harassment in any form is strictly prohibited at Real Deals Media events or within our workspaces.
What constitutes harassment?
Examples of harassment include, but are not limited to:
- Use of offensive, abusive, or degrading language or actions based on race, religion, age, disability, gender, gender identity/expression, appearance, or sexual orientation
- Display or use of sexual images
- Inappropriate physical contact
- Deliberate intimidation or stalking
- Physical or verbal aggression
- Unauthorised photography or recording
- Disruptive behaviour during talks or other events
- Encouraging or supporting any of the above behaviors
Alcohol and Substance Use
If alcohol is served, consume responsibly and be mindful of your conduct. Consumption of alcohol does not excuse harassment, inappropriate comments, or disrespectful behaviour.
Illegal substances are strictly prohibited at all our events.
Maintain Professionalism
Attendees are expected to maintain professionalism throughout the event. This includes avoiding disruptive or loud behaviour and respecting personal space.
Respect Others’ Choices
Not all participants may choose to drink alcohol, and this choice should be respected. We strive to maintain an inclusive environment for both drinkers and non-drinkers alike.
What to Do if You Have Concerns
If you feel uncomfortable, witness harassment, or have concerns about the welfare of others at the event, please contact a member of Real Deals Media staff. Staff can be reached via email, phone, or in person. Look for staff members who will normally be found at the reception area of the event — each is trained in our Code of Conduct and is prepared to address incidents.
When reporting a concern, please provide as much detail as possible, including:
- The name or description of the harasser(s) (at our conferences, all attendees wear name badges)
- The type of harassment
- The time and location of the incident
- Any relevant context or surrounding circumstances
Please keep in mind that harassment reports will be handled confidentially. We ask that you refrain from sharing details publicly until we have had an opportunity to investigate and respond.
Our Response
The action we take will depend on the nature of the situation but may include:
- Discussing the incident with the harasser
- Issuing a warning to the harasser
- Expelling the harasser from the event
- Involving venue security
- Contacting law enforcement
- Banning the harasser from future Real Deals Media events
- Providing support and escorting the person who was harassed
